This will creep you out. It's amazing how calm he seemed to stay through the whole sequence. Maybe because his back was broken and he didn't really have any other choice, but in any case this guy is a champ.

If you're in Halifax this Thursday-Saturday come check out the Canadian Surf Film Festival. 180 South, Stoked and Broke, Idiosyncrasies, Fiberglass and Megapixels & Musica Surfica are some of the great films on the bill. It will be shown at Park Lane Theatre in downtown Halifax. The festival wraps up Saturday night with a concert by Matt Mays at The Paragon Theatre on Gottingen street.
Stay tuned for a festival report next week.

September Storm Classic
I can give you a quick summary: Peter Devries stole the show. The B.C. native dominated all morning long, en route to a convincing final heat victory against Nico Manos (Halifax), Noah Cohen (B.C.) and Marty King (Halifax).
( BC standout Noah Cohen showed up ready, taking home 3rd prize)
All of the competitors in the Pro division shared some great waves, but I think we all left happily blown away with Devries' surfing.

For Sale: NESurf.com
Long time surf forecasting resource and online mecca is up for grabs. The details of the sale are spelled out here with some pretty nifty looking charts and graphs showing site traffic. Good luck to all parties involved; the buyer will certainly have some big shoes to fill.
A blurb:
"What is included:
- Everything you see on NESurf.com.
- A google map with all know surf spots known to me in New England."

gratuitous ocean shots
school work has been piling on, and as such i've been slowly dredging up older photographs and organizing and tagging them as a means of avoiding responsibility. here are some from acadia national park:
'i' and 'o' can be inconveniently close to one another on a keyboard and have significant ramifications if inadvertently confused. in other words: shot to shit.
see also: unfortunate proximity of 'd' and 'f' should you be referring to common water fowl in haste.

Custom fitted.
I’ve been pestering my buddy Matt about designing us a new header since Phoresia posted shots of the little point break in our old header actually going off. If you recall, it was shooting off nice little peelers, but nothing compared to what it does when the swell hits.
Anyway, I finally got around to telling him what we wanted, and as he’s doing a February “thing-a-day” project, it slotted in beautifully.
I think this one was day 6 of the portfolio. Check out some of the others:

Check out more of his work here, or his flickr gallery here.

Around town.
I haven't been in the ocean since...September, which I guess, makes me a non-observant surfer.
I just picked up a normal lens, and during the school year I can see the Atlantic from my front yard. The view looks something like this:

White Daisy Passing
"I'm going down to sleep on the bottom of the ocean
'cause I couldn't let go when the water hit the setting sun"
A gorgeous tune by one of my all-time favorite songwriters.

Missing Home.
another Thanksgiving
come and gone, winter
threatening with her
brittle crystal wonderland
Maine roots
longing to be back
on familiar soil
