Think YOU got slammed hard?

This will creep you out. It's amazing how calm he seemed to stay through the whole sequence. Maybe because his back was broken and he didn't really have any other choice, but in any case this guy is a champ.

If you're in Halifax this Thursday-Saturday come check out the Canadian Surf Film Festival. 180 South, Stoked and Broke, Idiosyncrasies, Fiberglass and Megapixels & Musica Surfica are some of the great films on the bill. It will be shown at Park Lane Theatre in downtown Halifax. The festival wraps up Saturday night with a concert by Matt Mays at The Paragon Theatre on Gottingen street.

Stay tuned for a festival report next week.

September Storm Classic

Hurricane Igor brought some great swell to Lawrencetown Beach for the annual September Storm Classic this morning. It was a bit mushy at times, but the ocean stayed active with lots of great sets rolling in off the point.

(Pete Devries, floatin')

I can give you a quick summary: Peter Devries stole the show. The B.C. native dominated all morning long, en route to a convincing final heat victory against Nico Manos (Halifax), Noah Cohen (B.C.) and Marty King (Halifax).

( BC standout Noah Cohen showed up ready, taking home 3rd prize)

All of the competitors in the Pro division shared some great waves, but I think we all left happily blown away with Devries' surfing.

(Nova Scotia's first pro surfer Nico Manos, putting it all on the line)

(Devries secures the win with a solid hack)

Congratulations to SANS on putting on another smooth event! Let's keep em' coming!
